Games Workshop has announced a new campaign expansion for The Horus Heresy. The Martian Civil War draws near.

There were many times in the Horus Heresy where things could have tilted slightly differently and completely changed the end. The Martian Civil war is one such event. The Schism of Mars split the Mechanicum and led to rise of the Dark Mechanicum. And now you’ll get to read the background that led up to this split and play though this Horus Heresy campaign yourself.

“In addition to an expansive section of background covering the Schism of Mars, its internal strife, and Rogal Dorn’s campaign to safeguard the defence of the Sol System, this expansion book contains rules for fielding a variety of malefic technologies previously seen in Exemplary Battles, from Questoris Knights in the early stages of corruption to the fearsome Daemon Engines that rose up amongst Mechanicum clades which fully harnessed the secrets of the warp.”

The Martian Civil War – Horus Heresy Style

This campaign book doesn’t just have background for the conflict it also has a ton of new rules to add. There are rules for the Dark Mechanicum including four new Warlord Traits and four new High Techno-arcana to wield.

On top of the rules for the Dark Mechanicum there’s also rules for extending the Onslaught Campaign that started in the Siege of Cthonia. You’ll be able to add these new, optional rules to help theme your campaign around the war on Mars now. Get ready to deal with Scrap-code storms in the ruins of the Martian Cities that were destroyed in the initial bombardments.

Additionally, there are rules for extra Titan Support. If you’ve ever wanted to bring the biggest guns to the tabletop run this new stratagem and run some 3000 point battles!

The Horus Heresy provides tons of hobby opportunities with all the various armies now available. And now you can tackle the Martian front and battle it out on the red sands themselves. It’s Mechanicum vs Mechanicum — who’s going to come out on top this time!?
