Steamforged Games has purchased the right to the Iron Kingdoms from Privateer Press. It’s a new era for Steamforged Games and Warmachine.

There’s a big shake-up happening for Privateer Press and Iron Kingdoms — Steamforged Games is now the owner of the IP. That includes Warmachine, Hordes, Formula P3 Paints, and so much more.

“Important news! Here at Steamforged, we are beyond excited to announce we’ve acquired the incredible Iron Kingdoms universe from our friends at Privateer Press, including Warmachine, Formula P3 Paint, the Iron Kingdoms RPG, & more. “

Forging A New Era

In a statement from Steamforged Games they have detailed the big news. Here’s the press release from their blog below:

“We’ve got important news to share with you all. Here at Steamforged, we are beyond excited to announce we’ve acquired the incredible Iron Kingdoms universe from our friends at Privateer Press.

It seems that both parties are excited about this massive change. Obviously there are going to be challenges ahead as mergers and acquisitions can be tough to navigate. In this case it does appear that Steamforged Games is leaning more on that acquisitions side of things. It does sound like the folks at Privateer Press are going to be helping with the transition of the IP moving forward as well.

Personally, I would agree that Steamforged Games is a good fit for this IP. Their Guild Ball setting is close enough that there’s certainly crossover potential. And Steamforged Games is pretty solid on the RPG front, too. Getting the setting of the Iron Kingdoms is a HUGE win for them. I’m looking forward to see what both companies are going to do in the future. Their next big update is going to be June 6th. We’ll have more information by then!
