‘The Watchers’ – All Eyes Are on Dakota Fanning in Chilling New Trailer
A group of strangers is trapped in the middle of an uncharted forest by mysterious and ferocious creatures in The Watchers.
Mina is left stranded when her car breaks down at the edge of a mysterious forest. She’s forced into the dense woodland, where she finds a woman yelling, urging her to run through a gate to safety. She’s then led to a concrete bunker. There, she meets others trapped in the bunker’s single room. One wall is a large window that looks out onto the forest.
There’s something strange out among the trees. Creatures that are watching her and the other captives in the bunker. What are they? Why are they imprisoning humans and watching their every move?

This is Ishana Shyamalan’s feature debut. She cut her teeth working on Servant with her father, M. Night Shyamalan—writing and directing several episodes of the Apple TV+ series. She also acted as assistant director on Old. Let’s hope she’s learned from her father’s successes (and mistakes).
It definitely has some creepy elements and a mystery that tries to pull you in, but it has a The Village feel to it that I’m not digging. The story is based on the novel of the same name by A.M. Shine, which is very well-regarded, so maybe I’m wrong. Let’s hope so and this debut is a good one.

The Watchers stars Dakota Fanning, Siobhan Hewlett (Sherlock), Georgina Campbell (Barbarian), Alistair Brammer (Medieval), Oliver Finnegan (Outlander), Anthony Morris (Game of Thrones), and Olwen Fouéré (The Northman). It was written and directed by Ishana Night Shyamalan, who also serves as executive producer.
The film follows Mina, a 28-year-old artist, who gets stranded in an expansive, untouched forest in western Ireland. When Mina finds shelter, she unknowingly becomes trapped alongside three strangers who are watched and stalked by mysterious creatures each night.
The Watchers debuts in theaters on June 7th.
