Games Workshop Game News, Reviews, Editorials & Unboxings. Games Workshop Group (GW) is a United Kingdom manufacturer of miniature tablrtop wargames, based in Nottingham, England. Its best-known products are Warhammer and Warhammer 40,000, and Age of Sigmar. It is one of the largest hobby and game manufacturers in the world. GW was Founded in 1975 by John Peake, Ian Livingstone and Steve Jackson. The company was originally a manufacturer of wooden boards for games including backgammon, mancala, and Go. It later became an importer of the U.S. role-playing game Dungeons & Dragons, and then a publisher of it's own wargames and role-playing games, expanding from a bedroom mail-order company in the process. Games Workshop expanded into Europe, the US, Canada, and Australia in the early 1990s. All UK-based operations were relocated to the current headquarters in Lenton, Nottingham in 1997. It started producing licensed games associated with The Lord of the Rings film trilogy in 2001. Games Workshop is listed on the London Stock Exchange and is a constituent of the FTSE 250 Index.
